Le sculture in vetro, metallo, ceramica di Tristano di Robilant mettono in equilibrio forme geometriche, luce e colore. Le sue eleganti creazioni evidenziano le particolari qualità dei materiali, enfatizzandone le forme peculiari ed entrando in sintonia con il mondo che le circonda, grazie alle superfici traslucide che giocano con la luce e i riflessi. Le loro forme irregolari e apparentemente casuali sono allo stesso tempo sorprendenti e affascinanti. Le fattezze giocose delle sculture sono spesso abbinate a titoli enigmatici che di Robilant prende in prestito da un vasto archivio di influenze letterarie, filosofiche e storiche. Lavorando in stretta collaborazione con i maestri artigiani in Italia, nella sua scultura di Robilant abbraccia degli elementi di casualità, abbandonando la pretesa del controllo assoluto sulla materia. All'interno di questo delicato equilibrio tra ispirazione ed esecuzione, l'opera di Tristano di Robilant raggiunge una complessità e raffinatezza che stimola l'attenzione e la riflessione. Nel mese dopo l'apertura della mostra, Tristano di Robilant rimarrà a San Diego come artista in residenza presso il Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego (MCASD), dove svilupperà il suo prossimo corpus di lavori. Tristano di Robilant’s glass, metal, and ceramic sculptures balance geometric forms with exquisite light and color. His elegant creations highlight the particular qualities of his materials, emphasizing distinctive forms. These works are also acutely attuned to the world around them, with translucent surfaces that play with light and reflection. Their irregular and seemingly random shapes are at once surprising and mesmerizing. The sculptures’ playful forms are often paired with enigmatic titles that borrow from a range of literary, philosophical, and historical influences. Working in close collaboration with master artisans in Italy, di Robilant embraces an element of chance, relinquishing some of his control. It is within this delicate balance between inspiration and execution that di Robilant’s work achieves a complexity and refinement that solicits attention and reflection. In the month following the opening of this exhibition, di Robilant will remain in San Diego as an artist in residence at MCASD, as he develops his next body of work.
